'Rejoice!'

Philippians 3:1 NAS
Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord.

Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, REJOICE!

Philippians 2:17-18
But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. And you too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me.

Today, on the radio, John MacArthur explained why every Christian should always “rejoice in the Lord”...

1) We rejoice in the character of God because His character never changes: His justice always stays the same, He is completely consistent, His wisdom does not diminish, His power is always absolute, His grace will forever be more than enough, and His mercy is unending, and His love for us is beyond anything we could ask for/imagine/deserve...

2) We rejoice as a proper response to the work of Christ: He lived a perfect life, He suffered, and He died to pay for our sins and set us FREE! He gave His life to purchase ours...through faith! When we trust in Him for forgiveness of sins, we are made right with God and become joint heirs with Jesus!

3) We rejoice in the work of the Holy Spirit: He is miraculously transforming us into the image of our Lord, and we have “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Romans 14:17).

4) We rejoice in proper response to spiritual blessings: We heard and received His Good News, we've been adopted as sons and daughters through Christ, His grace has been freely bestowed on us, our redemption is through His blood, we have complete forgiveness of our sins, we are being made more and more Christlike, He pours out provision for us, His pours out blessing on us, His wisdom and strength and comfort and love is freely given us...

5) We rejoice in divine providence: our God is working out ALL THINGS (for those who love Him) for His glory and our best good...

6) We rejoice in what is to come: The Believer's future with Christ is SECURE, ETERNAL, and will be GLORIOUS!

7) We rejoice in the Scriptures: God's Word RESTORES our soul, makes wise the simple, brings rejoicing to our hearts, REVIVES us, SUSTAINS us, ESTABLISHES our steps, and His Word makes clear 1) His desires, 2) His goodness, 3) His love, 4) His eternal plans, and 5) the way we are to live (so we have satisfaction and life!)...

8) We rejoice in Christian fellowship: God gives us a new family—fellow Believers who speak God's truth to us, who help hold us up, who love us, who help us bear our burdens, who pray with us, who worship with us, who rejoice with us...

9) We rejoice because we have the privilege of WITNESSING: God CHOOSES to use us to proclaim and spread His Good News!

Lord, today (every day!) we REJOICE in You! May Your Word and Spirit continually transform us as we discipline our minds and hearts to be focused on YOU...focused and rejoicing in the MANY reasons we have to always rejoice! Flood our minds and hearts with Your steadfast reasons for rejoicing, Lord, so we more and more “Rejoice in the Lord always,” and so we “rejoice in the same way” Paul did....sharing our “joy!” We ask this in Your name, Jesus...

AMEN!!!
