'1 Chronicles 28:8-10, 20'
So now, in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God, observe and seek after all the commandments of the Lord your God so that you may possess the good land and bequeath it to your sons after you forever.
“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever. Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house for the sanctuary; be courageous and act.”
Then David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and courageous, and ACT; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until ALL the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
What wise, true words King David said to his son Solomon! May we Believers be reminded and encouraged today...
To “observe and seek after all the commandments of the Lord your God.” When we seek His Words, we gain real wisdom and right thinking! When we apply and live by “the commandments of the Lord,” THAT'S when we experience and “possess the good” He has for us! When we “seek after” His ways “in the sight of all,” His light (in us!) shines for all to see...and others will be encouraged to “observe and seek after all the commandments of “ our good Lord, having us as an example...
To “know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind.” We are to hunger for our Father (if we “seek Him, He will let” us “FIND Him!”). Our growing knowledge of Him and of His unmerited goodness, mercy, and love compels us to stop living for ourselves. Instead, our growing knowledge of Him will cause us to love and “serve Him with (our) whole heart and (our) willing mind”—wherever He takes us! Doing whatever He would have us do!
To realize “the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts.” Yes, our Father knows us best—so we ought to be completely open with Him. Praise Him who knows EVERYTHING about us: our hopes and fears, our every thought (the good and the bad!), the true motives behind every thought/word/plan/action, our God-given strengths and sin nature weaknesses—and He loves us anyway!
To understand “the Lord has chosen you,” so you are to be “Be strong and courageous, and ACT! Do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you!” For “He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6)...” until ALL (our) work for the service...of the Lord is finished!”
Holy Spirit: keep us Believers remembering that we are to 1) seek God's ways, 2) KNOW our Lord, 3) be completely open with Him, and 4) act as His chosen, obedient children (strong and courageous in doing what He has called us to do and face—for He is with us, enabling us, perfecting us!)!
