Daily Devotion for October 25, 2016
The Lord brought His people out of Egypt, loaded with silver and gold;
and not one among the tribes of Israel even stumbled...
The Lord spread a cloud above them as a covering
and gave them a great fire to light the darkness.
They asked for meat, and He sent them quail;
He satisfied their hunger with manna—bread from heaven.
He split open a rock, and water gushed out
to form a river through the dry wasteland.
For He remembered His sacred promise
to Abraham His servant.
So He brought His people out of Egypt with joy,
His chosen ones with rejoicing.
He gave His people the lands of pagan nations,
and they harvested crops that others had planted.
All this happened so they would follow His decrees
and obey His instructions.
Praise the Lord!
When I read this portion of Scripture this morning, it reminded me...
The Lord has “brought” me “out of Egypt,” out of slavery to sin through faith in His Son! As His adopted child, I am now “LOADED” with “every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because (I am) united with Christ” (Ephesians 1:3)! “He brought” me “out of Egypt with joy” and “with rejoicing!”
I don't “even stumble” when I keep my “eyes on Jesus, the Champion who initiates and perfects (my) faith” (Hebrews 12:2)! When I “look straight ahead, and fix (my eyes) on what lies before me—on Christ—He keeps me “in perfect peace” as I “trust in” Him (Proverbs 4:25, Isaiah 26:3)!
The Lord has “spread” His Son's righteousness over me “as a covering!” And He has given me His Son/Word/Spirit “to light the darkness!”
What I “asked for” (according to His will, His wisdom), my Father “sent!” Moreover, His Son and His Word SATISFIES my “hunger!” They are my satisfying “bread from heaven!” He “split open” the “Rock” for me, and living “water gushed out!” His Son's life formed “a river” of eternal life “through the dry wasteland” of my once-lost soul!
“He remembered” (kept, and still remembers and keeps every ) “sacred promise” in His Word!
“He gave” me LIFE! With His new life in me, I am compelled to to spread the Gospel, and harvest “crops that others (have) planted!” The “harvest is great, but the workers are few” (Matthew 9:37)!
I praise your name, Lord! I praise your name! You've given me everything I need, and so much MORE! Today I will keep in mind ALL You have done for me, so I am compelled (by Your great love!) to “follow (Your) decrees and obey (Your) instructions”—to live for Your glory!
“Praise the Lord!”
