'Christ's Love Controls Us'

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 NLT
Whatever we do, it is because Christ's love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for everyone, we also believe that we have all died to the old life we used to live. He died for everyone so that those who receive His new life will no longer live to please themselves. Instead, they will live to please Christ, who died and was raised for them.

Other translations...

For the love of Christ constrains us...(KJV)

Clearly, Christ’s love guides us...(GW)

For the love of Christ controls and compels us...(AMP)

For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us...(AMPC)

For the love of Christ urges us on...(NRSV)

The very spring of our actions is the love of Christ...(Phillips)

For the Messiah’s love has hold of us...(CJB)

We are ruled by Christ’s love for us...(CEV)

Lord Jesus, we ask for Your great love to increasingly control us each day. Moreover, we specifically ask for Your love to control us right here, right now, throughout every situation and circumstance of this day...so we DON'T “live to please” ourselves today, but “instead,” we “live to please” you...

We ask for Your great love to “constrain” us: that Your love keeps us in check and restricts us (holds us back!) from saying or doing anything that doesn't glorify You...

We ask for Your great love to clearly “guide” us: that Your love leads, directs, and supervises our thoughts, words, and actions...

We ask for Your great love to “compel” and “urge” and “impel” us: may Your love be the driving force behind everything we say, think, or do...

We ask for Your great love to be “the very spring of our actions”...

We ask for Your great love to have a firm ownership and a supportive “hold of us”...

Lord Jesus, we ask these things in Your name: that today (and every day!) we are increasingly “RULED by” Your love!

AMEN!!!
