Psalm 16:1 NKJV
Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
The Lord preserves all who love Him...
What's the difference between those who love Jesus and those who don't? I found myself pondering this question today because both the unbeliever and the believer are floating in the “ocean of life” with 1) waves hitting, 2) storms pounding, 3) sunshine blessing, 4) with no control over the “currents,” and 5) neither group knows how each day will begin or end...
So what's the difference? The difference is this: we believers are wearing a life preserver—Jesus Christ! Our Life Preserver not only keeps us from sinking, but He strengthens us, He changes us, He makes us new, He is with us, He is controlling the ocean we are in, He forgives us, and He is safely transporting our souls to His eternal kingdom! With Jesus as our Life Preserver, folks (and His Word and Spirit guiding and reassuring us!), we WILL make it! Consider these verses, Beloved...
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.
Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints! For the Lord preserves the faithful...
Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserv
You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.
You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.
For I will pardon those whom I preserve.
What a wonderful thing to to be preserved through our Life Preserver—Jesus! Heavenly Father, we thank You for giving us Your Life Preserver! On behalf of all of us who believe, I ask three things today: 1) Please keep us mindful of those we daily “float by” who are NOT wearing Your Life Preserver—and give us opportunity to tell them about Your Son! 2) Moreover, I ask that You help us stop trying to “guide” our Life Preserver—rather, help us lose ourselves to Him (John 3:30: “He must increase, but I must decrease.”). Last of all, I ask You to make us eager and enabled to let You “sanctify (us) completely” so that our “whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23). Our Life Saver “will deliver (us) from every evil work and preserve (us) for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever! Amen” (2 Timothy 4:18)!
