'Casting Cares, Presenting Requests...'

1 Peter 5:7 NIV
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

Psalm 55:22
Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Story...

A few days ago, my oldest called me from her college campus, and she was slightly panicked. Her problem was this: her car's left front tire was going flat—and she had no experience handling this, no spare tire, no AAA card, a long day ahead of her, a job to go to after classes, and a 25-mile drive home...

“There's a tire shop by Costco” I said, surprising myself because the place just popped into my brain, a place where I've never done business. “They can fix the tire, and have them rotate the tires as well.” As we discussed when she could get this done, I remembered something else: “Don't you have a two hour break after your first class?” She did. “Take the car on your break! That may be plenty of time, and then you won't be late for work this afternoon.” My daughter agreed. She was slightly apprehensive about handling this by herself, so I prayed for her to have peace, AND I thanked God for giving her an opportunity to handle an adult situation on her own—with Him by her side. Later that morning, I prayed again. This time I specifically asked for the employees at the tire shop to treat her and take care of her as they would care of their own daughter...

After getting the car to the shop, my eldest called back. “Mom! Guess what? The tire shop is playing Jesus music!” I could tell she was relieved and comforted—as was I. I thanked the Lord for directing her to a Christian-owned business. My daughter then told me the price to repair and rotate the tires ($52). Though the wait would be 1½ hours (which meant she would miss her next class), we both agreed she should stay. The tire situation needed to be taken care of...

Fast forward 1½ hours, and my daughter called again: “Mom, I got a text from my professor, and my next class was canceled! I don't have to worry about missing it!” Wow! Good job, God! She then continued, “And the manager guy just brought me my keys. He said the car was done. He didn't have me pay! He said it was 'All taken care of '!” Wow! The shop HAD taken care of her as if she were their own daughter! I spent the rest of the day marveling, rejoicing because my God had so wonderfully shown 1) His care, 2) His love, 3) His Word to be true, 4) His way to be best....

Brothers and sisters in Christ, may this story be used by the Lord to remind You of this one thing today: whether Your concerns this moment be big or little, whether your anxiety is caused by your own situation or someone else's, PLEASE do this one thing--“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He CARES for you! Cast your cares on the Lord and He will SUSTAIN you! He will never let the righteous be shaken! Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God! And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus!” We have a good, good Father and WONDERFUL Lord...

AMEN!!!
