“And...Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
“So don’t worry...These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.
Yesterday I took a day off—a day off from worrying. You know what? It was a delightful day! It was delightful not because the day was spectacular, however—I didn't go anywhere special or do anything amazing. And it wasn't delightful because all my prayers were answered, nor were my circumstances “fixed.” No, that wasn't it at all...
Folks, the day was delightful because I made a choice —a choice to do things very differently than what I had been doing the past few weeks (I had been WORRYING about the future, and I had been trying to figure out and solve “tomorrow”—in my own strength and wisdom). Folks, the “worry about tomorrow” route wasn't working. It left me feeling sacred and frustrated over things which I had no control. So I decided to leave behind the unsuccessful way, and I chose instead to “seek” and do what Jesus had instructed me to do:
To “seek” God and His “Kingdom” plans for me that day as I chose to live “righteously” through...1) spending time letting the Lord speak to me through His Word, 2) praying privately and casting my cares upon Him (and leaving those cares with Him!), and 3) following His Spirit (and enabling) as I considered and took care of the day's “business:” parenting my kids, walking my dog, doing laundry, studying for a test, mopping, cleaning up, running errands, watching “Beauty and the Beast”)...
On account of that one right choice, my delight and peace and joy r
Heavenly Father, it's a new day—a new day for each of us to make the right choice: the choice to lay our worries at Your feet and simply “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously!” You “will give (us) everything (we) need!” I pray Your Word and Spirit would powerfully enable each of us to make this right choice, Lord—so we each have delightful days walking with You (in joy and peace!) as our lives glorify You! I ask this in Your Son's mighty name because You “WILL certainly care for” those seeking You!
