'Praying for you!'
Philippians 1:9-11 NLT
I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
Paul often let his friends know how he was praying for them—how he was interceding for them—and I like that. I like that because whenever a friend or relative lets me know how they have been praying for me, it makes me feel loved, cared for, and not alone. Moreover, often those known prayers motivate me! That is, those prayers start me thinking in a different way, they help me see my situation from a different perspective (God's perspective!), and fill me with HOPE because I know God is listening and working on my behalf! So today, beloved, I'm letting you know that I'm praying this for you:
“I pray that your love will overflow more and more:”
Heavenly Father, please increasingly fill my dear friend with Your love, so Your love spills out whenever my friend speaks, plans, or does. Please help my friend to love (with Your love) those my friend thinks about and encounters today. Moreover, please grow my friend's understanding that You are the treasure worth loving and pursuing most of all, so my friend loves you more and more and seeks You more and more...
“that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding:”
Lord, please draw my friend to Your Word so real “knowledge and understanding” GROWS! Moreover, please give my friend Your wisdom, and guide my friend with Your Spirit, so every decision made is according to Your will and way...
“I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return:”
Please help my friend understand what really matters, so my friend increasingly turns away from anything or any attitude not of You. Moreover, let there be understanding that You are “working in” my friend, “giving” my friend “the desire to obey (You) and the power to do what pleases” You (Philippians 2:13). Let this dear Christian desire and be enabled to increasingly “live” a “pure and blameless” life for Your glory, until Your Son returns...
“May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God:”
Lord, may your Spirit increasingly REIGN in this dear friend! I ask that you give this Christian increased ability to lay “self” aside so Your Spirit controls and fills my friend “with the fruit” of the Spirit! Let Your Son's righteous character be increasingly seen through everything my friend thinks, says, plans, and does—so to “bring much glory and praise” to YOU! I ask this in Your Son's name...
