'Clean Consciences'

Psalm 17:3-5, 15 NLT
You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night.
You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong.
I am determined not to sin in what I say.
I have followed Your commands,
which keep me from following cruel and evil people.
My steps have stayed on Your path;
I have not wavered from following You.

Because I am righteous, I will see You.
When I awake, I will see You face to face and be satisfied.

“You have tested my thoughts and examined my heart in the night. You have scrutinized me and found nothing wrong:”

Heavenly Father, we Believers come today seeking to have clean consciences before You. We know we are are not sinless, but help us to be more like David! That is, help us (through Your Spirit's enabling) to freely acknowledge our sins and stay in close fellowship with You through 1) constantly testing our thoughts and actions by Your Word's instructions, 2) examining ourselves in light of Scriptures and Your Son, 3) scrutinizing ourselves so we constantly confess, repent, and turn away from that which doesn't belong in our lives!

I am determined not to sin in what I say:”

Oh, God...our TONGUES! “People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish,  but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God” (James 3:7-9). Work on our hearts, Lord, so we gain verbal self-control. We are not fighting our tongue's fire in our own strength: we fight against our sarcasm, our hurtful comments, our verbally lashing out, and our ugly tones through Your mighty Spirit. He “will give us increasing power to monitor and control what we say, so that when we are offended, the Spirit will remind us of God's love, and we won't react in a hateful manner. When we are criticized, the Spirit will heal the hurt and help us to not lash out” (Life Application Study Bible commentary).

I have followed Your commands, which keep me from following cruel and evil people. My steps have stayed on Your path; I have not wavered from following You:”

Lord, increasingly make us a people who desire to FOLLOW “Your commands!” Through Your Spirit's enabling, help us STAY “on Your path” and not waiver “from following You!” We know Your path is the BEST, most SATISFYING, most PROTECTED and BLESSED path—so prevent us from foolishly choosing to stray! “If (we) love (Your Son, we willobey (His) commandments” (John 14:15).

Heavenly Father, help us do what is right—help us do what You have called us to do: 1) to constantly scrutinize ourselves, confess, and turn away from anything NOT of You, 2) to control our tongues through Your Spirit's enabling, and 3) to FOLLOW YOUR COMMANDS! Those who do “what is right” (the “righteous” through faith in Your Son and through the enabling of Your Holy Spirit), they “will see You! When (they) awake, (they) will be fully satisfied, for (they) will see You face to face!” Living for You (and doing things Your way) is WORTH IT ALL!

AMEN!!!
