Psalm 19:1-2 NAS
How blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord. How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, who seek Him with all their heart.
I have chosen the faithful way; I have placed Your ordinances before me.
I shall run the way of Your commandments...
I considered my ways and turned my feet to Your testimonies. I hastened and did not delay to keep Your commandments.
I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your word.
I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes forever, even to the end.
As I was reading Psalm 119 yesterday, I couldn't help but notice how the writer of Psalm 119 was so INTENTIONAL in his walk with the Lord. That is, He “considered” his own “ways,” and then “turned” his “feet to (God's) testimonies:” he purposely “placed (God's) ordinances before” him and then deliberately set out to CHOOSE “the faithful way” (not his own ways!). He not only resolutely selected God's Way (over every other way)—he purposefully RAN “the way of (His) commandments” and trained his “heart to perform (God's) statutes.” Furthermore, he deliberately “RESTRAINED” his own “feet from every evil way, that (he could) keep (God's) Word.” Mr. Psalmist did all this because he understood “Why spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good? Listen to Me, and you will eat what is good. You will enjoy the finest food. Come to ME with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find LIFE” (Isaiah 55:2-3)...
Brothers and sisters in Christ: we believers know where real “life” and “blessing” is found—it's found ONLY in choosing to follow our Savior who gives us LIFE! I praise God for the reminder—that I am to be purposeful in choosing to live for Him—because I love experiencing the “blessing” and “life” that only comes when I choose to abide in His Son...
Lord Jesus, help each of us Believers be increasingly INTENTIONAL as we live for You! Help us daily place “Your (Word) before” us, and deliberately CHOOSE and RUN Your “way!” Cause us to daily consider our own “ways,” and then TURN our “feet to” Yours! Furthermore, increasingly incline our hearts “to perform Your Statutes,” Lord...and train our feet, brains, and hearts to be “restrained” from “every evil way!” We ask this in Your name—that we increasingly become a people who “seek (You) with all (our) heart,” where the real “blessing” and “life” is found...
This can only be accomplished through You!
