'New Year Prayer'
This Year's Psalms/Proverbs prayer for us Believers...
Psalm 2:1, 2,3, 4,6, 11, 12 NLT
Why are the nations so angry? ...The rulers plot together against the Lord and against His anointed one...The One who rules in heaven laughs. The Lord scoffs at them. For the Lord declares, “I have placed My chosen King on the throne.”
Serve the Lord with reverent fear...Submit to God's royal Son...what joy for all who take refuge in Him!
Lord, though those around us may be “angry,” though they may continue their quest to “free” themselves from You, may we Believers increasingly praise You this year—because You have already placed Your “chosen King (Jesus) on the throne!” We also ask for Your Spirit/Word to increasingly make Your Son the King of our hearts—so we “serve” Him wholeheartedly, “submit” entirely, and “take refuge” in Him!
Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!
Lord, don't let us forget this year how COSTLY and UNDESERVED our forgiveness is! You cleared us “of guilt” through faith in Christ—so we could be filled with “JOY” as we live lives that glorify You!
When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Finally, I confessed all my sins to You and stopped trying to hide my guilt...and You FORGAVE me! All my guilt is GONE!
Lord, this year make us far more attuned to the Spirit's convictions: quicker to recognize our sins, quicker to confess them, and quicker to turn completely AWAY from them—for our good and Your glory!
Psalm 32:8-9, Proverbs 3:5-6
The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.” Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.
Lord, let this be a year where we let Your Word/Spirit “guide” us and “advise” us more than ever before! Moreover, let this year be one where we do far LESS depending on our “own understanding,” and far MORE Trusting You with “all (our) hearts” (and seeking Your “will”)! Your “path” we will “take!”
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.
Lord, let this be a year where we improve at pouring “out (our) hearts to” You and waiting “quietly before” You—because ALL our “hope is in” you, You are our “rock and (our) salvation,” You are our “fortress,” You are our “refuge,” and we can wholeheartedly “trust in” You— “victory and honor come from” You!
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim Your unfailing love in the morning, Your faithfulness in the evening...You thrill me, Lord, with all You have done for me! I sing for joy because of what You have done.
Lord, let this be a year where we increasingly give You “thanks,” “praises,” and “proclaim Your unfailing love” and “faithfulness” to those around us! Moreover, make this a year where we are increasingly thrilled and filled with “joy” on account of all You do (are doing, and have “done”) for us!
But You have made me as strong as a wild ox...
Lord, let this be a year where we experience and increasingly understand that we “can do everything through Christ, who gives (us) strength!” (Philippians 4:13)
But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon. For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God. Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green. They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is no evil in Him!”
Finally, Lord, this year we ask that we “FLOURISH” for You...because we have been “transplanted” into Your own house—“into the Kingdom of (Your) dear Son” (Colossians 1:13)! May we also increasingly “produce fruit” for You, REMAIN “vital and green” as we abide in You, and lovingly “declare” the You the “just” ROCK: the One worthy of trust where “NO evil” is found!
Lord, this my prayer for myself, and for my brothers and sisters in Christ. I ask in Your Son's name...
