'Children it IS the Last Hour!'
James 5:7-9 NAS
Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door.
1 John 2:18a
Children, it IS the last hour...
It's exciting to think about “the coming of the Lord”...that our Lord is “standing right at the door”...don't you think? I'd love for Him to come today—right now even—but I know I must be “patient” because others have yet to receive Him (come on “early and late rains!”). Still, how it “strengthens” my heart, how it comforts me, and how much I am motivated when reminded that “it IS the last hour!”
I'm strengthened, comforted, motivated, and sobered...
1 Peter 4:7-11
The end of all things is near; therefore, be of sound judgment and sober spirit for the purpose of prayer. Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaint. As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever...
Moreover, I'm strengthened, comforted, motivated, sobered, and inspired to “behave properly”...
...now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
Heavenly father: please help us Believers reap all the benefits of remembering that “It IS the last hour!” That is, since Your “salvation” is “near,” may we each be strengthened, comforted, motivated, sobered, “properly” behaving, and constantly PUTTING ON and STAYING IN “Jesus Christ” our coming Lord!
