'Of First Importance'

1 Corinthians 15:3-8 NAS
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.

1 Corinthians 15:1-2
Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved...

Anything that's “of first importance” is (obviously!) the MOST important thing, right? Every day we decide what is “of first importance,” and we set our hearts and minds on accomplishing that. But here's the problem: my “first importance” as a Believer needs to match up with GOD'S “first importance.” So my challenge (and your challenge!) is to every day remember and act upon GOD's “first importance”...

To be ready (and looking for opportunities) to deliver and “make known” “what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures”...

To be ready to deliver and share with others the evidence: “that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time”...

To be ready to share and deliver to others our personal testimony: “last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me”....

What's your “first importance” today, beloved? Is it the same as our Lord's?

Heavenly Father: CONVICT and FORGIVE us for the many times Your “first importance” doesn't even make our “to do” list! Remind us (and burden us!) EVERY DAY with what's most important to You! To do this, You will need to open our eyes so we see Your opportunities to deliver “what (we) also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures!” Moreover, I ask that You make us brave, enabled, and committed (through Your Spirit!) to set aside our wrong “first importance” ideas and instead DO Yours (sharing the Good News with those around us, committing to participate in VBS and Feeding Those Who Feed Us, and financially supporting missionaries who are DELIVERING the Good News!). We ask this in Your Son's name, Lord—so we become a faithful, obedient body COMMITTED TO Your “first importance!”

AMEN!!!
