Revelation 3:14-22 NAS
To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:
“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth. Because you say, 'I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,' and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Lord, help us “of the church” hear Your words and rightly RESPOND today...
“You are lukewarm...I will spit you out of My mouth:”
Lord Jesus: are we—am I—being slothful or careless in pursuing You? Are we—am I—neither good nor evil? Are we—am I—neither led away by false doctrine, nor thoroughly addicted to Your Word? Are we—am I—listless in faith, or indifferent to the precious salvation You have given? Are we—am I—caring little whether the Good News goes out?
Show me where we (where I) am “lukewarm,” Lord, and make ALIVE again those “lukewarm” areas (through Your Spirit and Word)...
“You do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked:”
Savior: help us see and experience how “wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked” we truly are when we try to find satisfaction in anything else but YOU—our TREASURE! Only in YOU do we find what makes us truly “rich, and white garments so that (we) may clothe (ourselves), and that the shame of (our) nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint (our) eyes so that (we) may SEE!”
“Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent:”
Lord, help us have the right mindset when You “reprove and discipline” us—You correct us and allow refining trials because You “LOVE” us! Thank You for Your precious “love,” Lord. We enthusiastically come to you, the LOVER of our souls, eager and “zealous” to “repent” of everything we think/say/do that grieves Your Spirit and is contrary to Your Word...
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me:”
Bridegroom whom we eagerly anticipate: increase our desire to “HEAR” Your gentle knocking, to “HEAR” Your voice lovingly calling to us! We eagerly “OPEN” the door of our hearts to You (the One who loves and cherishes us most!)! May our hearts quicken at the thought of being with You, at the thrilling revelation that You desire intimacy with us (all the time!)!
“He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne:”
Jesus, Lord of all: how astonishing is this state of exaltation! How truly glorious eternity will be for those who “overcome” through faith in You!
We—Your Church—ask that You open our ears to Your Words, Lord. We open our hearts to Your knocking so Your love and satisfying presence can transform us. Make us increasingly “HOT” for You, beloved Savior...
