'King David's Words'

1 Chronicles 28:8-11, 19-20 NIV
“So now I charge you in the sight of all Israel and of the assembly of the Lord, and in the hearing of our God: Be careful to follow all the commands of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to your descendants forever.

“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve Him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever. Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work.”

Then David gave his son Solomon the plans...“All this,” David said, “I have in writing as a result of the Lord’s hand on me, and He enabled me to understand all the details of the plan.” David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.”

When King David gave the kingdom of Israel to his son Solomon, he gave a wonderful speech—which included instruction, reminders, and encouraging words for 1) his people 2) his son, and 3) for us Believers today. Let's take a look...

“Be careful to follow all the commands of the Lord your God, that you may possess this good land and pass it on as an inheritance to your descendants forever:” Lord, help us today (every day!) to “be careful to follow all the commands of the Lord”--so we can “posses” the “good” plans You have for us, and so we “pass on” to others our living-for-You example...

“Acknowledge the God of your father, and serve Him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind:” Lord, may Your Spirit and Word draw us, so we increasingly “acknowledge” You throughout each day. It is You we “serve” all day long—serving “with wholehearted devotion and a willing mind”...

“For the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought:” Lord—You KNOW us, You UNDERSTAND us, and You love us anyway! Thank You! We ask You to keep changing us, so we increasingly think, desire, speak, and act more like Your Son...

“If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever:” Holy Spirit: grow our desire to “SEEK” our Lord...to seek Him first, and put Him first...above all else!

Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a house as the sanctuary. Be strong and do the work:” Lord—You have “CHOSEN” us to be Your children! Moreover, You have placed us right where You want us, when You want us, to do the work You have “chosen” us to DO! Whatever tasks You assign us, Lord, use Your mighty Spirit to enable us, so we are “strong” to “do the work” with attitudes that glorify You, so our work glorifies You...

“The Lord’s hand on me, and He enabled me to understand all the details of the plan:” Father, we ask Your hand be “on” us as we obediently live for You! Moreover, help us “understand ALL the details” of the work You assign us—so we can successfully do Your work and Your plans, Your way...

“Be strong and courageous, and DO the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the...Lord is finished!”

AMEN!!!
